17-year-old Lee’s Summit man killed in overnight crash
A 17-year-old Lee’s Summit man was killed in a one-car accident early Saturday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 12:20 a.m. a quarter mile east of the intersection of SW Hook Road and SW Ward Road. The driver, Caleb Gotway, was traveling east on Hook Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a dirt embankment. Gotway, who was wearing a seatbelt, was extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
There are no signs that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police. The accident is still under investigation.
