Eighth-grade entrepreneur opens coffee, snack business in mall
What does an eighth grader know about running a business?
Beans.
Thirteen-year-old Tyler Kirwan of St. Joseph, Mo., started up his own coffee and snack shop business last month at a shopping mall food court.
“I’ve always loved coffee and all the different techniques, all the different ways you can make it,” Tyler told the St. Joseph News-Press. “I thought, I guess, you only live once. So you might as well start now.”
Tyler earned money to open his business by babysitting.
Tyler’s Hello Drink Co. is open only on Saturdays in the East Hills mall.
“Well, you know, I have school,” he said.
