Baby chimp makes his debut at the Kansas City Zoo
A male chimpanzee born Friday at the Kansas City Zoo made his first public appearance Tuesday as the troop of primates enjoyed the warm weather.
Zoo officials said the mother, a 40-year-old named Rachel, was keeping the baby close to her, so it may take patience for visitors to see the newborn.
The zoo’s chimpanzees are allowed in their outdoor exhibit when the temperature is 65 degrees or higher. The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures in the high 70s on Wednesday.
