Independence police seek help in pursuing hit-and-run case

Independence police are asking the public for tips to help investigate a two-vehicle crash that killed one of the drivers about 9:15 p.m. Friday at U.S. 24 and Blue Mills Road.

The driver of a 2008 Dodge 2500 pickup rear-ended a 2014 Mazda 6 that was stopped at a red light. The pickup driver fled the scene.

The driver of the Mazda, a 34-year-old man, was pronounced dead at a hospital. His identity was not being released while authorities notified family members.
