After chance of light snow, Kansas City area should see weekend warmup

The weekend will get off to a cool start Friday in Kansas City, with temperatures reaching the middle 40s.

Kansas City should see a gradual warmup this weekend with highs climbing to the upper 70s by mid-week, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a chance for a rain and snow mix early Saturday, but accumulations are expected to be light — less than 1/2 inch, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs are likely to reach into the middle 50s on Saturday and lower to middle 60s on Sunday.

There is a chance for for light rain Sunday afternoon.

The warm-up is expected to continue into next week, with highs in the 70s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

There’s a chance for thunderstorms later in the day Wednesday, but no organized severe weather is currently expected, according to the National Weather Service.
