Child killed in northern Missouri when SUV strikes horse-drawn buggy

A 10-year-old boy driving a horse-drawn buggy was killed and his two sisters were injured in northern Missouri early Thursday when they were struck by an SUV.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Joshua L. Leinbach of Wheeling, Mo., was killed in the 7:35 a.m. incident on Route B in Livingston County. He and his two sisters, aged 7 and 8, were all ejected from the buggy. One sister was in serious condition and the other had moderate injuries.

The driver of the 2005 Ford Expedition that struck the buggy from behind, also of Wheeling, had minor injuries.
