Wayside Waifs offers half-off adoption special on selected pets
In a fenced-in exercise area at Wayside Waifs in south Kansas City, Dollar the dog eagerly high-fives or high-tens anyone offering a treat.
“He’s an adorable dog,” said Casey Waugh, communications and annual giving manager for Wayside Waifs.
Dollar, a 41/2-year-old mixed breed, is one of about 30 dogs and cats for which Wayside Waifs is trying to find a home through a half-off adoption special.
The special is for the Most Valuable Pets, animals that have been in care for more than 30 days.
The promotion started Wednesday and runs through Sunday. The minimum price for adoption is $25.
“These animals have been with us for that long because we have been able to give them medical attention and behavioral attention that they need,” Waugh said. “They are ready for their forever homes.”
That attention includes a test that helps discover cats’ personalities so they can be matched with potential adopters.
A behavioral team works with dogs, including determining whether they are aggressive when it comes to food and how they respond to different situations.
For more information, go to Wayside Waifs’ Facebook page, where there’s an album with a picture and link to a bio of every animal in the promotion.
