Fatality reported at wreck in Kansas City, North along U.S. 169
A motorist was killed when their car veered off of U.S. 169, crashed into the side of a bridge and burst into flames.
The wreck occurred about 5:30 a.m. near Shoal Creek Parkway. Police said the driver was southbound on U.S. 169, traveling at a high rate of speed when they lost control and slammed into the nearby bridge, said Sgt. Deb Randol, with the Kansas City traffic investigations unit.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not determined the sex, race or age of the victim.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 169 were closed for a couple of hours while police investigated the crash.
