Cass County restaurant inspections: June 1-15

Health inspections at area restaurants and other food establishments were conducted by the Cass County Health Department June 1-15.

In essential compliance is a pass rating awarded to a food establishment that does not have any open critical items noted at the end of an inspection.

Not in essential compliance is a fail rating given to a food establishment that has one or more open critical items noted at the end of an inspection.

A priority violation is defined as a violation that will more likely lead to a food borne illness or food contamination.

Food handler certification violations and establishments that failed only because employees didn’t have valid certificates have been omitted from these reports.

Randazzo’s Pizzeria, 1806 N. Commercial St., Harrisonville. June 1 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 3. Observation: Victory Freezer has an ambient temperature of 50 F — corrected on site. Victory Freezer was taken out of commission during inspection. Walk-in beverage cooler has milk observed at 44 F — corrected on site. Walk-in beverage cooler may not store milk or any other potentially hazardous food item unless able to maintain food at 41 F or less. Milk will no longer be stored in walk-in beverage cooler, and is now stored in walk-in refrigerator or Pepsi cooler. Observation: Sanitizer exceeds 200 ppm chlorine — corrected on site. Maintain sanitizer at 50-200 ppm chlorine. Sanitizer remixed to appropriate concentration of chlorine.

Starbucks Coffee, 1113 E. North Ave., Belton. June 2 Routine Inspection, Out of Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 2. Observation: Approximately 20 baby flies noted on menu board and adjacent wall and six baby flies in display case. Shift manager stated that they have been working to reduce flies and have seen some improvement.

Hardee’s, 2002 N. Commercial St., Harrisonville. June 6 Follow-Up Inspection, Out of Essential Compliance. Repeat Observation: Sliced tomatoes and sliced cheese observed at 50 F in walk-in cooler — corrected June 13. Do not store potentially hazardous foods in walk-in cooler until the unit maintains 41 F or below. Repaired cooler before follow-up inspection scheduled June 13.

Belton Parks & Recreation, 16400 N. Mullen Rd., Belton. June 7 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 1. Observation: Cheese sauce in dispenser about 118 F for unknown duration of time — corrected on site. Informed manager, cheese sauce discarded. Sauce warmer thermometer about 120 F. Cheese sauce warmer replaced. Cheese sauce must be maintained minimally 135 F.

Double TT Steakhouse, 108 E. Main St., Drexel. June 7 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 1. Observation: Plastic panel in ice machine has build-up — corrected on site. Clean and sanitize plastic panel regularly. A clean plastic bag was placed on top of pile of ice. Manager cleaned and sanitized the plastic panel.

Panda Wok Restaurant, 1101 S. Commercial St., Harrisonville. June 7 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 2. Observation: Bottle of cleaner observed without a label — corrected on site. Label bottle of cleaner with contents. Bottle was labeled with contents. Observation: Sanitizer concentration is too low in two buckets — corrected on site. Utilize chlorine at 50-200 ppm in sanitize buckets. Sanitizer remixed to 50-100 ppm chlorine in sanitizer buckets.

Belton Food Mart – Manashi Investment, 111 N. Scott Ave., Belton. June 8 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 2. Observation: Walk-in refrigerator: Raw shell eggs on shelf above milk and juice — corrected on site. All raw meats/proteins must be kept below or away from foods that can be eaten directly from the refrigerator. Informed manager, employee instructed to move eggs to bottom display shelf. Observation: Slime debris build-up inside soda fountain nozzle pieces — corrected on site. Repeat violation from multiple previous inspections. Soda fountain heads/nozzle pieces need to be cleaned at least once per week. Clean using soap and water, then sanitize soda fountain nozzle pieces and inside fountain heads. Upon arrival of employee, manager instructed employee to take soda fountains out of service for cleaning.

Harold’s Smokehouse, 27500 S. Missouri C, Freeman. June 8 Routine Inspection, Out of Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 5. Observation: Container of soup dated Feb. 10 observed in the walk-in cooler and moldy head of cabbage — corrected on site. Adulterated food was discarded. Observation: Several fruit flies observed in kitchen on foiled potatoes next to handwashing sink — corrected on site. Clean spill where fruit flies are landing and prep potatoes away from the handwashing station where backsplash can get onto the potatoes. Spill cleaned where fruit flies were landing and potatoes relocated. Observation: Two bleach bottles observed stored next to food and on food prep areas — corrected on site. Store toxics in away or below food and food contact surfaces. Bleach bottles were moved to designated storage location. Observation: Dried food crumbs observed on meat slicer in kitchen — corrected on site. Wash, rinse and sanitize meat slicer within four hours of use. Unit broken down washed, rinsed and sanitized.

McDonald’s, 400 N. Missouri 7, Pleasant Hill. June 13 Routine Inspection, In Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 1. Observation: Build-up of debris observed inside soda nozzle pieces at soda fountain machine in dining area — corrected on site. Clean and sanitize soda nozzles frequently to prevent the build-up of debris. Discussed soda nozzle cleaning with manager, soda nozzles cleaned and sanitized.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 1606 N. Missouri 291, Harrisonville. June 13 Routine Inspection, Out of Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 2. Observation: Build-up observed on drive thru soda fountain dispenser heads. Clean and sanitize soda fountain dispenser heads regularly.

Enjoy Thai Cuisine, 316 C Legend Lane, Peculiar. June 14 Routine Inspection, Out of Essential Compliance. Priority Violations: 1. Observation: Potentially hazardous foods in prep cooler are not below 41 F. Noodles observed at 60 F for three hours. Baby corn observed at 60 F for three hours. Tofu observed at 60 F for three hours. Maintain potentially hazardous foods at 41 F or below.
