Firefighters battle blaze at Olathe Solid Waste Transfer Station

Firefighters spent four hours battling a blaze at the Olathe Solid Waste Transfer Station overnight before extinguishing the fire early Friday, according to the Olathe Fire Department.

Firefighters from Olathe, Lenexa and Johnson County Fire District No. 1 were called to the transfer station near 151st Street and Lone Elm Road about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

The transfer station is closed until further notice, but regular trash and recycling services will operate as normal.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
