Preston Henderson, 50, identified as swimmer who drowned in Lake Jacomo
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified Preston Henderson, 50, as the swimmer who drowned in Lake Jacomo over the weekend.
Henderson was with family who had gone out on a pontoon boat Sunday at the lake in Jackson County.
Henderson decided to go swimming and jumped from the boat, swam for a short distance and then went under the water. He didn’t resurface, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office, along with the Missouri Highway Patrol and Lee’s Summit Underwater Recovery, responded around 5 p.m. and began searching for Henderson.
Searchers found his body about 1:20 a.m. at the south end of the lake. His body was taken to the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
