Police release name of Independence motorcyclist in fatal high-speed crash

Independence police have released the name of a motorcyclist who died in a Friday afternoon crash.

Peter Slusarczyk, 37, of Independence died on impact when he was traveling at high speed on a Yamaha sport bike westbound on U.S. 40, according to police.

His motorcycle struck a Jeep Liberty that was turning left to eastbound U.S. 40 from the Interstate 70 exit ramp.

The accident shut down the eastbound lanes of U.S. 40 about 4 p.m. Friday. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
