Body of St. Joseph man missing since May 22 recovered in Missouri River

Authorities recovered the body of a missing St. Joseph man Saturday from the Missouri River.

The body of 64-year-old Daniel Purvis was recovered about 11:30 a.m.

A person spotted the body south of St. Joseph in Buchanan County. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body.

Authorities had been searching the Wolf River in Doniphan County, Kan., and other nearby bodies of water for Purvis since May 22, officials with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said.

Christopher Colhour, 40, of St. Joseph was arrested the same day for allegedly stealing Purvis’ 2009 Chevy Traverse.

Colhour is in custody at Doniphan County Jail, KBI officials said. Further charges were pending.

Doniphan County is west of St. Joseph.
