Water boil advisory in effect for part of southern Kansas City

A water boil advisory is in effect for the area bounded by 75th and 81st streets and by Washington Street and Holmes Road in Kansas City.

Customers in that area should boil tap water for three minutes before consuming it.

The area experienced a drop in water pressure Wednesday due to a break in a 16-inch water main east of the intersection of Troost Avenue and Bannister Road. Pressure has been restored, but the boil advisory is in effect until the water is tested for safety. Water customers on the north side of 75th Street are not affected by the advisory.
