A fire just after midnight Tuesday damaged three units at the Marbella Condominiums in Overland Park.

Firefighters arriving on the scene reported seeing heavy smoke and fire coming from the second story balcony of a two-story condominium building in the 11100 block of Nieman Road.

An alert neighbor is believed to have knocked on doors alerting residents, who were able to evacuate by the time firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.

The fire heavily damaged on unit and caused minor damage to two others.

Five people were displaced because of the fire and were being helped by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
