Munday on Monday: “Good morning!”

Awakening, I made a vow

The first two hours, say:

“Good morning!” I shall greet to all

I chance to meet today.

“Good morning, sir!” “Good morning, ma’am!”

“Good morning, little tyke!”

“Good morning!” to the clerk in store

And passer-by on bike.

And diligent, I kept my word —

“Good morning” was my quote;

Surprising, though, my cheery thoughts

Attract a downer note:

“It’s afternoon! It’s after five!

It’s nearly time to sup!”

Thus someone growled, to which I said:

“Well, duh, I just got up!”
