Teachers

In every class and every day

They tutored through the years

And facing young sarcastic snots

(Like me) they persevered.

How little recognition came

From bearing such a load!

How great their impact proved to be

As future decades showed!

In quiet ways they guided lives

From paths we might’ve slid.

I’ve no idea why they taught;

I’m awful glad they did.
