Painter who died in Northland lift accident is identified
Authorities identified Colton R. Frisbee of Weston as the 23-year-old painter who died Thursday when a scissor lift he was working on fell over.
The accident was reported about 1:30 p.m. at Inland Truck Parts and Service at 8801 N.E. Parvin Road, near Worlds of Fun.
Frisbee was one of two painters working on the lift at a height of about 25 feet. As the lift tipped over, he fell and landed on a truck. A portion of the scissor lift then fell on top of him, fire officials said.
Frisbee died at the scene.
A federal investigation began after the accident, said Jean Williams, assistant area director for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration office in Kansas City.
Frisbee and his father, Corey Frisbee, were featured in the Nov. 19 edition of 816 Northland of The Kansas City Star. The two opened Weston Tobacco, a shop that sells handmade cigars, in 2010. Prior to launching the cigar shop, the two operated a house painting business.
