A painter died Thursday when a scissor lift that he was working fell over in the Northland, authorities said.

Emergency personnel responded to Inland Truck Parts and Service at 8801 N.E. Parvin Road, near Oceans of Fun, at about 1:30 p.m.

Two painters were working on the lift at a height of about 25 feet, said Kansas City Fire Department Battalion Chief James Garrett. As the lift tipped over, one painter fell and landed on a truck. A portion of the scissor lift then fell on top of him, Garrett said.

The second painter was uninjured.
