Park Hill schools lockdown lifted
The lockdown of Park Hill schools was lifted about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the wake of a manhunt for a suspect in the shooting deaths of three and the wounding of two others in south Kansas City.
Several schools in the Park Hill district were placed on lockdown and activities were canceled Tuesday evening after police said they were looking for a potentially dangerous person in the area.
Facilities affected were Park Hill High School, Congress Middle School, the Gerner Family Early Education Center, Renner Elementary, Prairie Point Elementary, the Aquatic Center and the district office.
All students who were outside the buildings were called inside.
The district’s Twitter account said: “Police tell us people allowed to leave schools that are on hold; but they say to keep doors locked as precaution.”
