Munday on Monday: Sea saga
IN THE NEWS: Divers off Malta find the cargo of a Phoenician ship that sank around 700 B.C.
Sea saga
Exciting find beneath the sea,
No longer lost to history —
Bonanza trove that must amaze
All students of such olden days;
And yet my mind will wander, slip,
To passengers of ancient ship
Who in some port still weary, dwell
And watch a creaking carousel —
Three thousand years? They must be numb:
“Our luggage — will it ever come?”
