All clear at KCI after claim of possible bomb causes evacuation
Terminal B at Kansas City International Airport was evacuated for two hours Sunday as police checked into a person’s claim that a pickup truck parked outside may be carrying a bomb.
Flights scheduled to be arriving at the terminal were rerouted to Terminal C, where outgoing and incoming passengers were relocated pending a search of the truck by the Kansas City bomb squad, said airport spokesman Joe McBride.
About 6:30 p.m., “an individual mentioned to an airport employee something about a vehicle that might have a bomb,” McBride said. That individual was taken into custody by airport security.
Police cleared the way for passengers to return to Terminal B about 8:30 p.m. It was not immediately known whether explosives were found.
McBride said people heading to KCI late Sunday or early Monday should check FlyKCI.com for the status of flights and gate locations.
