Strong storms take aim at KC with a threat of hail and flooding
Heavy rain, potentially damaging winds and localized flooding were predicted overnight for the Kansas City area.
The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo., said Sunday that several counties spanning northwestern Missouri and extreme eastern Kansas can expect as much as an inch of rain between 3 a.m. and noon Monday.
A strong storm system in advance of a cold front from the west also could bring hail and some flooding along the Interstate 70 corridor, the weather service reported.
