Investigation into death of 2-year-old continues in Gardner

Gardner police said Wednesday that they are continuing to investigate the death of a 2-year-old girl.

The girl, whose name has not been released, was found unresponsive shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of South Hickory Street. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police Chief Jim Pruetting said Wednesday that an autopsy would be performed.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Pruetting said.
