Collision involving school bus in KC early Wednesday leaves driver injured

A collision at 23rd Street and Van Brunt Boulevard early Wednesday involving a school bus left the bus driver hurt but no students were injured.

The bus was headed north on Van Brunt Boulevard shortly after 6 a.m. when police say a pickup truck ran a red light and collided with the bus.

The extent of the bus driver’s injuries was not immediately known.

Only one student was on the bus at the time of the crash and was not injured.

The intersection was reopened at 7:15 a.m.
