Teen killed in Overland Park wreck

A 16-year-old Blue Valley Northwest High School junior died in a one-vehicle wreck about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday near 175th and Switzer streets.

Police did not release his name Wednesday, but student journalists at the school identified him on social media as Blake Rohrer, a choir member. Counselors were provided at the school Wednesday night.

Although the cause of the crash was under investigation, police said that speed appeared to be a factor.

The car sustained significant damage to its front and driver’s side. Blake died at the scene.
