Two killed in head-on Leavenworth County wreck
Two people were killed in a three-vehicle accident just after 6 p.m. Monday in rural Leavenworth County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. The wreck occurred on Kansas 16 at 235th Street. The road remained closed past 10 p.m.
A westbound driver on K-16 sideswiped an eastbound vehicle then veered into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle head on. The driver of that vehicle, as well as the westbound driver, were killed. The eastbound driver was wearing a seatbelt but the westbound driver was not.
The names of the people killed were not immediately released.
