Rollover crash on KCK ramp to I-70 injures two children, two adults

A rollover accident on an exit ramp to Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Kan., sent two children and two adults to area hospitals Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred at 4:13 p.m. on the southbound Interstate 435 exit to eastbound I-70, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report. Troopers said a 2000 Mercedes sport-utility vehicle changed lanes on the exit ramp, striking a 2002 Hyundai car in the passenger side. The collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control and leave the roadway. The SUV overturned multiple times, ejecting three of the four occupants, and the car ended up in the ditch.

The SUV driver, Julia Dinora Rivera, 38, of Kansas City, and two girls, ages 2 and 11, were ejected and taken to area hospitals. A fourth occupant, Nesario Gallo, 48, of Kansas City, Kan., also was taken to a hospital. None of the SUV occupants were wearing seat belts, the report said.

The driver of the car, Kimberly Ann Brocklehurst, 33, of Overland Park, was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
