Kansas City road works: Johnson Drive bridge to reopen at noon; U.S. 40 bridge closed
The Johnson Drive bridge over Turkey Creek in Merriam, which has been closed since February, is scheduled to reopen by noon Friday.
Motorists no longer will have to detour to 63rd Street (Shawnee Mission Parkway.)
The bridge was closed so that deficient parts could be replaced and safety improved.
There will be a short ceremony at 8:30 a.m. and then contractors will begin removing barricades.
On the Missouri side, however, another bridge will be closed until spring.
The U.S. 40 bridge over the Blue River was to close Thursday evening so it can be replaced. It is expected to be closed until March 31.
