Grandview man struck and killed while walking along Interstate 49

A 22-year-old Grandview man was killed Saturday after being struck by a tractor-trailer while walking along the shoulder of Interstate 49 in Bates County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The victim was identified as Dalton Z. McGuire. According to investigators, Dalton was struck by the tractor-trailer as he walked on the right shoulder in the northbound lane of I-49 at mile-marker 132.6 just after 4 p.m.

The tractor-trailer was driven by a 55-year-old man from Tulsa, Okla.

McGuire died at the scene.

No other details were available. The incident remains under investigation.
