Police continue to investigate gun found at Olathe Northwest High School

Olathe police on Friday said they are continuing to investigate the discovery of a gun at Olathe Northwest High School.

Police said that they have identified the person who brought the gun into the school at College Boulevard and Lone Elm Road.

But investigators are still working to determine how the gun got into the building Thursday and why it was brought to the school, a police spokesman said.

No decision has been made on what if any criminal charges could be filed.

The gun was found inside a back pack Thursday afternoon and prompted school officials to keep students in their classrooms and delayed their release at the end of the day.
