Mayor Sly James, community leaders to discuss race, immigration Wednesday night
Race, immigration and the American Dream will be addressed Wednesday evening as part of the Your Fellow Americans online documentary series.
The 90-minute discussion, which will be moderated by KCPT TV’s Nick Haines, will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Gem Theater, 1615 E. 18th St. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP on Eventbrite by clicking here.
Mayor Sly James will be part of the panel that also includes Cielo Fernandez, chief program officer at El Centro Inc. in Kansas City, Kan.; Michelle T. Johnson, contributor to The Kansas City Star; Paul Gutiérrez, a community outreach advocate/coordinator in Kansas City; and Sofia Khan, a physician and founder of the Kansas City chapter of Muslim Youth of North America.
The program will include a question-and-answer session.
Your Fellow Americans is an online documentary series co-produced by KCPT’s Hale Center for Journalism and Brainroot Light & Sound.
