Winter mix arrives as temps fall below freezing

National Weather Service

A mixture of rain, sleet and snow moved into the Kansas City area Friday night as the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 10 a.m. Saturday.

Kansas City can expect about an inch of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice. Areas to the north and east could get more snow and areas to the southeast could get more ice.

The combination of ice and snow will make road conditions hazardous.

Missouri Department of Transportation crews are deploying salt trucks and Kansas City road crews were summoned to report at 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Highs Saturday are expected to be in the mid-30s.
