Woman pleads guilty in chase that ended with building collapse in Kansas City

A woman charged with stealing an SUV in November and leading Kansas City police on a high-speed chase before crashing into a building downtown pleaded guilty Thursday.

Sinead T. Lynch, 38, of Overland Park, admitted to tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest. On Nov. 20 she stole an SUV at a motel in Kansas City, North. Police spotted the vehicle and gave chase. According to court documents, Lynch drove recklessly and onto the sidewalk, threatening pedestrians. She lost control and crashed into a building at 18th and Oak streets, causing an estimated $300,000 in damages.

According to the plea, Lynch will be sentenced to four years in prison. At the time of the November crash, she was on probation after another high-speed pursuit.
