Woman killed when crash throws her into oncoming traffic on I-70

A motorist who got out of her car after crashing into a cable barrier on Interstate 70 near Grain Valley died Monday when another vehicle struck her car, throwing her into oncoming traffic.

Authorities identified her as Wanda G. Munson, 58, of Oak Grove, Mo.

The fatal crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. Munson got gotten out of her 2001 Honda, which was in the left traffic lane. A 1997 Oldsmobile driven by a 19-year-old Odessa man then collided with her car.

The collision threw Munson into the right lane of traffic, where a 2015 GMC driven by a 35-year-old Sedalia man struck her. Munson died at the scene.

A 35-year-old female passenger in the car that struck Munson’s car was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
