Police release the name of KC driver killed after rolling off I-435

Kansas City police have released the name of a 65-year-old man who was killed Tuesday when he lost control of his vehicle on northbound Interstate 435 and landed on 23rd Street.

James L. Barringer of Kansas City was northbound in the construction zone on I-435 and veered left into the center median. The vehicle struck the center cable barrier and continued down an embankment and between the bridges, where it vaulted onto East 23rd Street and struck a westbound dump truck.

Barringer was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later. The driver of the dump truck was also transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
