Gas leak prompts evacuations near KU Hospital, closure of 39th Street
Several buildings near the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., were evacuated Monday morning after a gas line was broken.
Kansas City, Kan., firefighters reported that a 3-inch line was struck and was leaking just before 10:30 a.m.
Emergency crews blocked off 39th Street in front of the hospital and ordered the evacuation of the Dykes Library and Hemenway building, both on the north side of 39th Street.
