Driver dies after van crashes into porch near 73rd and Chestnut in KC

A 64-year-old Kansas City man died after the van he was driving crashed into the front porch of a house near 73rd Street and Chestnut Avenue early Sunday morning, according to police.

The wreck was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Police said it appeared the man was driving a gold Chrysler van south on Chestnut when he lost control on a curve, drove through two yards and hit the front porch of the house.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police did not immediately release the man’s name Sunday morning.
