Lee’s Summit police dog Griff will be missed by all
His name was Griff and his career was storied in the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
In five years, the police K-9 had helped officers seize $13,000 in stolen money, 220 pounds of drugs and 84 people wanted by the police. He had been present at 134 community events. He became beloved with his department.
On Sept. 11, Griff spent the final moments of his life with his handler, officer Steve Grubbs, before dying from complications of a terminal illness.
“Griff will be missed by all our staff who served beside him,” a statement from the police department read.
