Leavenworth girl, 8, killed in UTV wreck in northwest Missouri

An 8-year-old Leavenworth girl died Monday after a utility vehicle she was riding in wrecked in Andrew County, Mo., according the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The vehicle, a 2012 Polaris Ranger UTV, was driven by a 9-year-old who was seriously injured in the crash, according to the patrol.

The wreck occurred shortly after noon on County Road 136, north of St. Joseph. Alexis S. Walker, of Leavenworth, died after she was ejected from the vehicle.

Kayden L. Walker, also of Leavenworth, was driving and appeared to have lost control of the vehicle before it overturned. She was taken to a St. Joseph hospital.
