Here’s where to get vaccinated in Johnson County
Johnson County is in the midst of another COVID-19 surge caused by the virus’s delta variant and the recent arrival of the highly contagious omicron variant in the area.
Getting vaccinated, as well as receiving a booster shot when you become eligible, is the best known way to prevent illness, hospitalization and death from COVID-19. It’s totally free, and you don’t need health insurance.
Here’s how to get a jab for yourself and your loved ones in Johnson County.
Vaccination sites
Vaccinations are available every day except for Sunday at KORE LAB Solutions, located at 8787 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. This location is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. You don’t need an appointment, but you can call the location at 913-499-6956 if you have questions.
The JCDHE Mission Clinic, located at 6000 Lamar Ave. in Mission, is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Getting vaccinated at this health department clinic requires an appointment. Make an appointment online here.
Johnson County also has limited capacity to bring vaccines directly to homebound residents. If you’re interested in signing up for a home vaccination, call the county’s COVID-19 hotline at 913-715-2819 to be added to the waitlist.
Special vaccination events
Dec. 28: The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) is holding a special vaccination event for children ages 5-11 on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Vaccines for children will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at 11811 S. Sunset Drive in Olathe. No appointment is needed.
Jan. 6: El Centro, Inc. is holding a walk-in vaccination event for all ages from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Jan. 6. Spanish speakers will be available. The center is located at 201 E. Loula Street, Suite 110 in Olathe. Bring your vaccination card along if you have one.
Jan. 10: Anyone ages 5 and older, including adults, can get a vaccine at Rosehill Elementary School from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10. The school is located at 9801 Rosehill Road in Lenexa. No appointment is needed.
Jan. 11: Vaccines will be available for all ages at a walk-in event at Overland Park Elementary on Tuesday, Jan. 11. The event will run from 3:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. The school is located at 8150 Santa Fe Drive in Overland Park. No appointment is needed.
These are the only vaccination events currently scheduled in Johnson County, but we’ll update this story if more become available.
