Kansas City metro adds more than 300 COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths Monday
The Kansas City metropolitan area added more than 300 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
The area encompassing Kansas City and Jackson, Clay and Platte counties in Missouri and Johnson and Wyandotte counties on the Kansas side gained 310 cases for a total of 39,185 to date.
The seven-day rolling average for new cases was 320. One week ago, it was 313. Two weeks ago, it was 276, according to data compiled by The Star.
The metro added 11 deaths on Monday. A total of 562 have been recorded since March 12, when the area’s first COVID-19 death was reported in Wyandotte County.
The University of Kansas Health System reported 33 patients hospitalized for the virus, up 10 from Friday. Ten of those patients are in the intensive care unit, with three on ventilators.
On Monday, Missouri reported 123,276 cases including 2,074 deaths. The state unveiled new COVID-19 dashboards Monday. “Cross-governmental” data from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Department of Economic Development, the Department of Social Services and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is included, Gov. Mike Parson’s office said in a news release.
Kansas confirmed 58,629 cases including 637 deaths. The weekly positivity rate is 8.34%, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Across the country, more than 7.1 million people have contracted the virus and 204,881 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
