Doctors at the University of Kansas Health System said they were treating 31 patients for the virus, up eight from Sunday.
“That’s unfortunate. We just had a lot of admissions,” said Dana Hawkinson, director of infection prevention and control at the health system. “Certainly we have seen in COVID, that nothing is predictable.”
Ten of the patients are in the intensive care unit with eight on ventilators.
“This is a bad trend,” Hawkinson said. “We will wait to see what happens over the next few days.”
