Now kids 12 and older can get a free COVID-19 test in Johnson County. Here’s how
Johnson County health officials will offer free COVID-19 tests this week to anyone 12 years or older who lives or works in the county. It marks the first time the county has offered the free drive-thru tests to people younger than 18.
The health department will administer tests from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Gardner Edgerton High School, 425 Waverly Road in Gardner.
You don’t have to have coronavirus symptoms. The department will administer tests on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.
Children ages 12 to 15 will need to have a parent in the car to get tested.
The county will have five testing stations at the clinic. The department recommends cars enter off South Waverly Road, south of West Madison Street and follow the signs.
People should stay in their cars with their windows up until it’s time to test. The department asks people to not bring pets.
As of Tuesday morning, the county reported 2,356 positive cases and 91 deaths.
