Here’s what you can do under KC Parks and Recreation’s three phase reopening plan
KC Parks and Recreation said the first phase of its reopening plan will begin next week, though activities and programs will be limited to promote social distancing, the department announced Friday.
Beginning Monday, tennis and pickleball courts as well as golf courses will reopen.
Fitness facilities at Southeast Community Center and the Gregg/Klice Community Center will resume by reservation only.
Dog parks will reopen with social distancing guidelines and day camps at limited locations will begin.
Indoor events with less than 10 participants and outdoor events with less than 50 attendees will also be permitted.
Playgrounds, pools, athletic courts, shelter houses, ball fields and youth leagues will remain closed.
Three fountains will be turned on Monday: The Spirit of Freedom along Brush Creek at Cleveland Avenue, the Meyer Circle Sea Horse on Ward Parkway, and the J.C. Nichols Memorial near the Country Club Plaza.
Moving into the second phase will require sustained declines in the average number of new daily cases and testing and contact tracing capacities, the department said.
Phase two will allow open gym time at community centers, ice skating and fitness classes to resume.
Once the city lifts COVID-19 restrictions, the department will move into phase three and permit large events, adult sports leagues and permanent restrooms.
On Friday, Kansas City eased restrictions further, allowing gyms and dine-in services to resume.
Kansas City has 848 cases of COVID-19, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. A total of 10,456 have been reported in the state.
