Three more deaths, 43 new coronavirus cases reported in Kansas City metro area
Forty-three new COVID-19 cases and three more deaths have been reported Thursday in the Kansas City metropolitan area, according to the latest figures provided by Missouri and Kansas.
Altogether, at least 1,734 cases of the novel coronavirus have been identified in the metro: Kansas City, Jackson, Clay and Platte counties in Missouri as well as Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. The numbers have been updated daily by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
State and local numbers also show that one new coronavirus-related death has been reported in Kansas City and two more deaths in Wyandotte County.
At least 106 people total have died from the disease in the Kansas City area.
On the Missouri side of the metro, 461 total cases and 14 COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in Kansas City. Outside the city limits, 296 cases and eight deaths have been in Jackson County; 62 cases and one death have been in Clay County, and 28 cases have been in Platte County, where zero deaths have been reported.
In Kansas, Johnson County has 403 cases and 36 deaths while Wyandotte County has seen 484 cases and 47 deaths. The deaths in Wyandotte County include 27 residents from Riverbend Post Acute Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City, Kansas, where a COVID-19 outbreak occurred.
As of Thursday, Missouri has reported seeing 6,321 cases and at least 218 deaths statewide while Kansas said it has seen 2,482 cases and 112 deaths.
Nationwide, more than 856,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19 and more than 47,000 people have died, according to data provided by Johns Hopkins University.
