Veterans Affairs Medical Center in KC accounts for dozens of city’s coronavirus cases
The Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center accounts for dozens of the metro’s coronavirus cases, according to statistics published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Fifty-eight people at the medical center have tested positive, according to the department. It’s not known how many of those are staff or patients.
The 58 cases make up about 14% of Kansas City’s 401 cases.
One patient at the Kansas City VA died of COVID-19 on April 5.
As of April 6, there were 33 confirmed COVID-19 cases among patients and staff.
A spokesman for the medical center did not return a request for comment in time for publication.
Veterans who have symptoms are asked to call the center at 816-861-4700 to speak to a nurse before visiting.
