Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson, other NFL stars not playing by rules of social distancing
While the rest of the world is busy practicing social distancing because of the coronavirus pandemic, some NFL stars are nonchalantly throwing caution to the wind.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, along with free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant, set Twitter abuzz with news that the two were working out together.
While some fans were marveling at the idea of Bryant rejoining his former team, other people noticed something else: The two were blatantly not following the rules of social distancing.
Bryant, who retired from the NFL in 2018, took to Twitter after the workout to show his excitement and posted a picture.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention might want to shoot a memo over to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and reiterate the coronavirus social distancing protocol.
Dak, Dez, and the crew aren’t the only ones showing disregard for the 6-foot social distancing recommendations. On Wednesday, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and wide receiver Marquise Brownheld a workout with free-agent receiver Antonio Brown.
And like Dez, Marquise Brown couldn’t contain his excitement and posted a picture of the athletes posing together.
This isn’t even 6 inches, much less 6 feet apart.
Some Twitter users were quick to blast the athletes for not following CDC rules in the middle of a pandemic, while others were puzzled that they would post the evidence.
More and more athletes have been stepping up by being more vocal about taking this coronavirus pandemic seriously. Sports stars including Kevin Durant, Marcus Smart, Sydney Wiese, Patrick McEnroe, and Jim Edmonds have tested positive for the virus.
These aren’t the first athletes to not take COVID-19 seriously. Two days before testing positive for the virus, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert facetiously touched microphones and tape recorders during a news conference.
