Hazard pay for first responders? Health workers could get extra in new bill, feds say

After passing a $2 trillion stimulus package, lawmakers are thinking about a fourth bill, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“This is certainly not the end of our work here in Congress — rather the end of the beginning,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, according to The Wall Street Journal.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said on Monday that the fourth stimulus package could have hazard pay for first responders, according to CNN.

“I think I agree with the president. I think that makes a lot of sense,” Mnuchin said, adding that hazard pay will be “definitely something we will put in the next bill.”

Hazard pay is more pay for hazardous work or duty that could cause “extreme physical discomfort and distress,” according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

Earlier on Monday, Trump responded to a “Fox and Friends” viewer who asked about hazard pay and health care workers who wouldn’t get checks under the stimulus package, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“We are looking at that and we’re looking at that as an amendment or something,” Trump said, according to U.S. News & World Report.
