Kansas coronavirus cases increase to 319, with more than 100 in Johnson County
At least 319 people have now tested positive for the new coronavirus in Kansas, according to an update Sunday from state health officials.
That was an increase of 58, or about 22 percent, from Saturday when the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported 261 cases across the state.
Of those testing positive for the virus, at least 55 have been hospitalized. Six people have died from the COVID-19 disease, including four in Wyandotte County and two in Johnson County.
With 319 positive tests and 4,914 negatives, people in Kansas were testing positive at a rate of about 6 percent, as they had in recent days. More cases are expected to be found as more people are tested.
Johnson County continued to report the most cases in the state, with 101 on Sunday. The previous day, the county reported 80.
Wyandotte reported 55 people testing positive for the virus. Leavenworth County reported 17 and Douglas County reported 23.
Of the total cases reported for Kansas Sunday, 156 were female and 163 were male, according to the state report. Ages ranged from 4 to 95 years old.
